PATS® Flagship Application

In the realm of outcomes data management technologies, PATS® is truly in a league of its own. PATS® has been used by healthcare organizations worldwide for nearly 30 years, and Axis Clinical Software is recognized as both the pioneer and industry frontrunner of this particular niche.

PATS® is one of very few applications to have lived through multiple generations of operating systems and programming languages, proven its capacity to adopt continuous improvement and advancement . . . and survived! PATS® is without question the most powerful and sophisticated software of its kind. No other offers the flexibility, speed, scalability or depth of feature set.

PATS® provides tools for every facet of outcomes data management:

PATS® has become integral to the work performed by quality management, performance improvement, decision support, database and research departments. Data registries may be designed quickly and easily around a specific medical specialty, subspecialty, service line, patient population, disease state, research study, payor organization, government program, or the like. There are no pre-requisites. Plus, PATS® affords complete freedom to add, delete and modify data elements at any time, on the fly, to accurately reflect new or enhanced goals, pathways, protocols, procedures, techniques, medications, etc. The integrity of existing data always remains fully intact.

The versatility of PATS® helps healthcare organizations achieve a broad array of business and clinical initiatives.

With PATS®, healthcare organizations have complete, proprietary governance over all data entered to the system. Access to it is unrestricted.

The ability of PATS® to follow patients over time is absolutely unparalleled. PATS® employs a unique longitudinal tracking system to which entries can be made at any interval -- any number of days, months and/or years -- including multiple visits, procedures or interventions in a single day, by one or more caregivers. Short-term and long-term trending may be accomplished for individual patients as well as select groups of patients in aggregate.

IT departments hold PATS® in high regard not only for its problem-free track record, but also for the Caché database on which it resides. Caché, from InterSystems, is the number-one embedded database in the world, across all of commerce and industry, as well as the number-one database in general within the healthcare market, surpassing both Microsoft and Oracle. It is incredibly flexible, and operates at lightening speed.

Hands down, the hallmark of PATS® is its ad-hoc data mining and analysis capabilities. There are more than 35 built-in statistical and reporting tools, each of which may be applied to any select patient population and any subset of data elements. PATS® can crunch through hundreds of thousands of data points (millions, in fact) in seconds. There is no clinical system as fast or as rigorous.

PATS® is the only application
of its kind to offer a multidisciplinary platform scalable across an entire hospital enterprise, outpatient clinic or integrated delivery network. It is capable of supporting any number of sites, departments, workstations and users.

The PATS® open architecture allows healthcare organizations to design and maintain as many separate and discrete custom data registries as desired. There are no limitations or restrictions.

Since its inception in 1973, PATS® has been adopted by virtually every area of specialty.

Caché is both self-optimizing and self-maintaining, and does not require a dedicated DBA. Its global post-relational file structure offers a database environment free of normalization, tuning, capacity planning, archiving, purging and compacting. Routine backups are the only scheduled tasks associated with Caché. Plus, IT departments do not have to purchase additional database licenses to support the installation of PATS®. Caché is delivered with PATS®, and licenses are included.
